Deadlifts For Dollars (DFD) is a fundraising event created by BCB Founder, Brooke Roy-Davis. Before the doors even opened for BCB, Brooke knew that she wanted to give back to the community through her business. Mental health has always been close to her after watching family members struggle with mental illness as well as going through her own struggles. She felt as though it was a topic that wasn't talked about enough and that there was still a bunch of stigma around. So, she brought the two things that she is passionate about together: deadlifting and mental health.

"Raising the bar for mental health"

— BROOKE ROY-DAVIS

Our History

May 2024 BCB held their first DFD fundraising event. To raise the funds participants would have a minimum donation fee, donations were collected at the front desk throughout the months leading up to the event, and there was a silent auction. The community came together and did what they all love to do, lift weights, while raising money for a fantastic cause. BCB was able to raise $5845.50 the first year and all funds went to the Canadian Mental Health Association in Sarnia to go towards community support services for those living with mental illness.

Giving Back

Brooke knew after the first event that there was a ton of potential to make this an annual event and each year set the bar higher and higher. So, in May 2025 BCB held their second annual DFD fundraising event. There was a local DJ that helped keep the music loud throughout the event, an MC to keep things organized, t-shirts sold, business sponsorship opportunities and double the amount of participants as the previous year. BCB raised $10,000 during the second event and this year had selected the Lambton Mental Wellness Centre to donate the funds to.

Our Community

Each year a different non-profit organization in the community will be selected to raise the funds for. Aside from fundraising, the other important factor is awareness. Sarnia-Lambton is fortunate to have a variety of different services available for those living with mental illness, but many people don't know exactly what is out there.

At DFD community organizations are asked to come and have a booth at DFD where they can discuss and advertise their services, promoting awareness and breaking barriers to getting the support that people need. At BCB we are creating the conversation, breaking the stigma, and raising the bar for mental health - the BCB way.
